Bowls Singles 2014

The 2014 Bowls Singles Final was completed at the last
moment possible before the annual green restoration work.

 

Doug Shearer took an early 14 – 3 lead but the match then
swung away from him with Gerald Thompson leading at 20 – 17. The match then
swung again with Doug claiming a victory at 23 – 20.

Presentation Night

Council has been looking into arranging Presentation Night.
When this event was first started it took place in October to help fill a blank
period of the year. Subsequently we have dropped this back to January to allow
adequate time for all competitions to be completed and trophies brought back
for engraving.
After some discussion it was felt any date in October would
be too short for handling the trophies as well as having the same President
running two presentation nights, with the likelihood one President would miss
out at some stage.

 

Council will therefore be arranging a date early in the New
Year for the next presentation night.

Christmas Draw

Entry sheets are now out in the Club for the Christmas Draw. It is £2 for a block of 10 numbers, and £10 for a complete line (50 numbers), as usual. The Draw itself will take place on Friday, 19th December.

Please put your money in one of the small brown envelopes, write your name on the front, and then place the envelope in the tin behind the bar. This is a slight change to previous years but is consistent with the procedure adopted for club competitions.
